Ace Your GRE Exam - Predict (and Avoid!) Disasters
Focusing on the positive is a great attitude to have. And an optimistic, up-beat frame of mind is exactly what you want to have during your GRE exam. However, the real world is waiting out there to bite you, so it's wise to figure out what could go wrong on the big day - then do all you can to make sure everything goes right!
For this tip, you need to:
a) Make a list of what could go wrong on the day. For instance: * Getting lost on the way to the test center and panicking * Forgetting your watch so you can't pace yourself properly * Misreading an essay question and only realizing it with a few minutes to spare on the essay section
... your list will be specific to you but write it out and then...
b) Implement solutions to as many of these as you can. To take our examples:
- Getting lost - take a test drive to the place a few days beforehand so you know exactly how to get there
- Forgetting your watch - write yourself a reminder note for the day, of all the things you need to remember
- Misreading an essay question - as you mentally rehearse your exam, see yourself reading each essay question carefully, and then re-reading it to be sure you've understood it.
Get the idea? Your homework for this lesson is to do your list and find some solutions!
